Tool introduction
The 3D stabilization tool is located in the lower part of the drill assembly and consists of a set of mechanical hydraulic structures. Under normal conditions of stable drilling, the 3D stabilization tool is a part of the drill assembly to transfer weight and torque to the bottom drill. When the drilling conditions are unstable, the 3D stabilizer begins to interfere with weight on bit, torque and the cutting depth of the bit. In practice, this intervention is initiated instantaneously and completed quickly to prevent localized drillstring instability from escalating into damaging vibrations. This adjustment occurs continuously and without the need to reset the tool.
Advantages and characteristics
• Better drill string dynamics by eliminating damaging torque fluctuations from the bit or reaming tool while drilling.
• Improve drilling efficiency and reduce footage costs. The tool dynamically adjusts the depth of the bit cutter into the formation to maintain constant bit torque. This attitude control ensures maximum bit aggression and maximum ROP.
• Protect the drill assembly from axial impact damage.
Reduce risks associated with downhole operations, especially in high-cost drilling environments.
